1. How do Hopkins' poems compare to the other poets we've read so far? Does the fact that he writes some shorter poems have any impact on the meaning of them? Did you find it harder or easier to understand and interpret them (based on their length)?
2. Did you notice anything about the flow of Hopkins' poems? Was there anything about the rhythm that stuck out to you? What is "sprung rhythm"?
1) How does Gerard Hopkins vocation as a Roman Catholic priest effect the subject of his poems?
2)Is "Carrion Comfort" supposed to be triumphant, hopeful, or sad? What struggle is the speaker grappling with?
1.) In the poem "God's Grandeur" does Hopkins suggest a relgious notion with his lines such as "because the Holy Ghost" or is their no type of relgious views behind this poem?
2.) How does Hopkind's poems differ from the other author's we have read about so far? What are these clear differences?
1) The tone of "Felix Randal" is radically different from the tone of his poem "God's Grandeur." Does it seem that Hopkins has more of an appreciation of god than his fellow man? Why do you think this is?
2)In his poem "Carrion Comfort" it seems as if he is questioning god's decisions. What do you think is the literal situation of this poem, and do you believe it is really aimed at god or another man?
